Cine Guanajuato is no more. The facilities of the cinema are in a terrible state. The former Guanajuato cinema will close its doors at approximately the start of 2020. This building dates back to the 1940s.
The center, located in Callejon Subida de Hospitales 40, just next to the University of Guianajuato, and only a few metres from Niceforo Guerrero Senior nursing home of INAPAM shows signs of regrettable abandonment. There are unpleasant odors and debris on the walls, doors and floors, including broken glass and loose cables. Plastic cups, bottles of alcohol and other trash, and graffiti, can be seen. The second-floor bathrooms have open windows and there is evidence that vandalism has occurred. Today, the rooms represent the overall panorama of the facility.

It has been a few years since the destruction and abandonment of this place. The Municipal Maintenance Area, based on multiple reports received by them, installed bars in the entrances to the building. The actions are intended to ensure security.
The administration of Cine Guanajuato changed to Cine+ Guanajuato in 2012. In 2012, the facility was remodeled. It went from having a seating area and a back stage with the projection screen to incorporating several different rooms. The warehouses at the top were adapted to house two employees and the manager.
