Using his own faeces, a man smeared profanity on a custody cell’s wall.
At Bournemouth Police Station, Murray spat at a detention officer through the hole in his cell door.
It was “fortunately” that the spittle landed on the officer’s facemask at Bournemouth Crown Court.
Murray was arrested following an incident in Poole on March 6, prosecutor Annabel Hazlitt told the court.
According to Ms Hazlitt, the defendant went to his then partner’s address drunk and was refused entry.
According to the barrister, Murray threw a roof tile through her window.
Double-glazed windows were smashed by the roof tile.
Murray was abusive to the police when they were called.
A police officer booked him into custody at Bournemouth Police Station.
During his stay at the prison, he smeared his faeces across the cell, including writing the words “and thanx to you” in his feces.
A detention officer later bent down to speak with the defendant through the cell door wicket.
According to the prosecutor, the window at the property needed to be replaced and the custody cell needed to be deep cleaned, which cost £130. Murray gave no comment to the police.
His most recent prior offence dates back to 2015, and he had 11 convictions for 18 offences.
In a video link appearance from HMP Winchester, Murray pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage and one charge of assaulting an emergency worker.
Griffiths, mitigating, said: “He was depressed and drinking heavily.”
The defendant’s personal trauma led to his present state, according to Mr Griffiths.
Mr Griffiths said he had just gone off the rails.
Murray, of Arne Avenue, Poole, had worked hard while in custody, including taking relationship courses.
At a hearing on Friday, July 28, Recorder Hannah Willcocks KC jailed the defendant for 10 weeks.
Due to the time he had spent in prison on remand, she said he would be eligible for immediate release.
As the defendant had been in custody for 79 days, the judge did not make an order for costs or compensation.
