Draper suffered from flooding on many streets after the storm that hit Draper Thursday night. However, one particular street was especially hard-hit.
Kristi Hartness who lives in Stone Canyon Drive said: “It has happened so many times on this street.” All of us are going through this together.
Hartness was hit more than anyone else on her street. A river of mud flooded her yard and her home after heavy rains.
“I’m not sure how to describe this.” She replied. “It was like a mud waterfall.”
Hartness’s basement ended up being nearly three feet of mud water. On Friday, nearly a dozen members of the community and family helped to clean up.
Clara Lee, who lives two houses away from Hartness was awakened by a text asking if the basement of her home had been flooded.
Lee stated, “I checked down there and found that it was flooding.” The window was blown completely out, and debris covered the entire floor.
While Lee’s spouse was away, her neighbors pulled soaked carpet from the house.
“I had five or six people help me move everything out in a matter of minutes.”
Hartness is a real beneficiary of the assistance from his neighbours.
“They’re so kind,” said she. They’re trying their best. They’re here with their kids. The kids have food. It’s amazing.”
