The fire that ravaged a prominent Clifton building last night (4 December) has left it seriously damaged. Clifton Heights, on the Triangle was a scene of a large fire. Firefighters, paramedics, and police all responded. Below is a gallery of photos that show the full extent of damage.
The first floor above the comic book shop Forbidden Planet suffered extensive fire damage. A police cordon remains in place at the scene.
Last night, the air ambulance was called and several land ambulances. No one was hurt. A spokesperson from Avon Fire and Rescue Service stated: “We received reports at 7:14pm of an fire in Clifton Heights, Triangle West. No one was injured.”

Crews from Chew Magna and Pill in Thornbury attended the fire. They also found a single fire on the first floor. The road was shut down to facilitate emergency access. Police and ambulance personnel were also present.
The fire spread to the second and first floors, with smoke reaching the roof. The fire was accompanied by 17 vehicles and engines at its peak.
Crews extinguished the fire using multiple 45mm jets, hose reels, and turntable ladders. Eleven firefighters were wearing breathing apparatus. The crews used gas monitors and thermal imaging cameras to detect hot spots. Positive pressure ventilation fans were also used to clear smoke and access small tools.
The incident has been scaled back at 10:09pm. The incident was not fatal and there are no details on the fire investigation.
