Anti-Semitism is a community issue.
According to Rabbi Mordechai Haler, vandals painted swastikas near the downtown area of Chabad in Kalamazoo on Nov. 17.
Rabbi Haller stated that “a little light can push away darkness.” This was an act in darkness. There is a lot darkness around the globe. We fight by starting with the light.”
Images were painted onto the sides of buildings and Chanukah décor placed in the front yard.
On Sunday around 4:00 pm, concerned community members helped remove the offensive images.
Rabbi Haller led the group in prayer and offered words of encouragement.
Rabbi Haller stated, “We are good and do positive things. In the end the light will prevail.” They won’t push us away…if they do, it will make us stronger.
Rabbi Haller, and his wife Dobroshe are thankful for all the love and support from their community.
Dobroshe Haller’s wife, Rabbi Haller said, “Thanks for your outpourings of love and solidarity.” We will remove the graffiti, and we’ll pray for our holy land brothers and sisters and peace in all places. This includes Kalamazoo.
