Four men were arrested on charges of armed robbery in relation to the mail carriers robberies that took place on Nov. 6.
The criminal complaint states that Jesse Lee Hernandez supplied the guns and True Serwin was the driver. Christian Lara Maldonado also admitted participating with Jose Federico Flores in these robberies.
They are accused of fleeing, resisting an officer and armed robbery.
On the south side, Milwaukee. The two robberies occurred within one hour of each.
It happened at around 10:22 am that morning, near South 12th Street & West Holt Avenue. The U.S. Three masked men armed with semi-automatic black handguns approached a U.S.
In court papers, it was stated that a suspect told a worker to “Give Me Everything You Have.” The suspects were given their mobile phone, bag, scanner for packages, and key to the vehicle. They allegedly took all the items, ran away northbound and called the police before they were caught. However, nobody entered the van of the mail carrier.
A second U.S.P.S. worker was returning to the van after delivering packages on foot when “three suspicious subjects” appeared at the intersection, according to documents. The documents state that the worker returned to his van on foot after delivering packages when “three suspect subjects” appeared at the intersection.
According to reports, the subjects held the employee at gunpoint after telling him “Give up the Arrow Key!” The arrow keys can be used to unlock any collection box within a specific zip code.
The suspects fled from the second crime site after the mailman handed them the key.
Sue Niedziejko, who has lived in 48th street her entire life, didn’t realize the full extent of what happened until the police came to her house.
I thought that someone had rear-ended the mailbox truck. “I thought that someone had rear-ended the mail truck. But I then saw vehicles pulling up. I assumed it was a supervisor. About 15 minutes later FBI showed up at my home and informed me of his robbery,” Niedziejko explained.
Officers saw a black Honda Accord sedan that was wanted for an earlier armed robbery. They tried initiating a traffic stopping, but the Accord accelerated away. A pursuit began near South 26th Street & West Oklahoma Avenue.
According to the probable cause document, the chase lasted 18 minutes before the suspects fled the vehicle and ran on foot for officers until they caught up with them.
The abandoned Honda Accord was found to contain semi-automatic pistols, a BB rifle and black masks.
On Nov. 7, detectives conducted an interview with Serwin, who was in police custody. According to the documents, Serwin claimed that the group had sold the arrow keys from the second burglary for $500.
The documents states that “Serwin said all of them bought the key together, and they all were in it together.”
After the criminal charges were filed, the Milwaukee Chapter of the National Association of Letter Carriers sent the following statement to WISN 12:
